I Am a Child in Church
I do not contemplate theology in silence
I rarely enjoy stillness
I cannot practice total obedience
I am not satisfied only with what’s right in front of me
INSTEAD, I LEARN MY FAITH
from copying the clergy’s footsteps
from seeing the icons on the other side again
from joining the festal shouts, even when there are none
BUT MOST OF ALL
from the affection of my family
and the love and understanding of my parish family
and from the unending forgiveness for my mistakes.
LET ME WORSHIP
with all my senses,
singing and exalting Him above all forever.
